Leadership doesn’t mean you are up every day or even every year. But it does mean that when you finally muster up what it takes to go inside for your strength that you pick yourself up and begin again.
Leaders just like everyone have the emotional ups and downs in their lives and should feel no shame in having a down time..the key is to once again…get up…move on…keep going.
Our emotional systems go up and down all the time. It took me years to realize that the old saying “what goes up must come down” applies to our emotional lives as well. Every emotional high is followed by an emotional low. Accept that and quit struggling.
There is really no need to change this fact. The thing that you want to change is how low do you go and how long do you stay in your low cycle.
Lead yourself out of the lows and back into your highs. Lead yourself to manage your highs just like you manage your lows. When you do this you will find that emotionally you can stay more consistent and therefore more emotionally on top.
Leaders, lead yourself first.
